Espresso machine (your trusty brewing companion)

Coffee grinder (for that fine grind)

Portafilter (the holder for your ground beans)
-

The Perfect Measurements
For a delicious shot of espresso, use 18–21 grams of coffee for each shot.
Adjust according to your taste and the strength you prefer!
Brewing Steps to Espresso Perfection
-
Turn the Machine On
Get your espresso machine warmed up and ready to go! -
Purge the Machine
Run a shot of water through the machine and portafilter to rinse and purge it.
This ensures everything is clean and hot.
Wipe the portafilter with a dry cloth afterward. -
Add Fresh Beans
Pour your favorite Hoasties coffee beans into the grinder.
Choose a blend that excites your taste buds! -
Grind Into the Portafilter
Grind the beans directly into the portafilter.
Aim for a fine grind—like table salt—for optimal extraction. -
Level and Smooth the Grounds
After grinding, level and smooth out the coffee grounds in the portafilter for even extraction. -
Tamp the Grounds
Use your tamper to press down firmly and evenly on the grounds.
Apply about 30 pounds of pressure for a consistent tamp. -
Polish with a Twist
At the end of the tamping process, give the tamper a gentle 3/4 twist to polish the surface of the grounds. -
Lock It In
Securely lock the loaded portafilter onto the espresso machine. -
Prepare to Pull a Shot
Place your espresso cup under the portafilter, ready to catch that liquid gold! -
Go Time! Pull the Shot
Start the extraction process!
A perfectly pulled shot should take about 20 seconds, producing a rich stream of espresso with a beautiful crema on top. -
Serve & Savor
Once extracted, serve your espresso immediately.
Take a moment to enjoy its aroma before indulging in that first sip! -
Repeat & Share!
Enjoy every drop and share your espresso creations with friends or family.
Coffee is best when enjoyed together!
Tips for Success
-
Grind Fresh: Always use freshly ground beans for maximum flavor.
-
Fine Grind: A fine grind is crucial; too coarse will result in weak espresso, while too fine can lead to bitterness.
-
Consistent Extraction: Aim for about 2 ounces of espresso in total, including crema, for each shot.
