Moka Pot

The Essentials

Get ready to brew some rich and flavorful coffee with your Moka pot!
Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Fresh coffee beans (of course Hoasties Coffee lol)

  • Fresh water (the cleaner, the better!)

  • Kettle or water boiler (to heat your water)

  • Moka pot (your trusty brewing companion)

  • Coffee grinder (for that perfect grind)

The Perfect Measurements

For a delightful cup of coffee, we recommend using 2 tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounces of water.
Adjust according to your taste if you’re feeling adventurous!

The Method

1. Break It Down
Unscrew and take the Moka pot apart. Water goes in the base (bottom), and coffee goes in the filter.
When assembled and heated, the water will rise through the grounds and out the pipe into the pot.

2. Boil Water
That’s right! Boil your fresh water before adding it to the Moka pot.

3. Grind Fresh Beans
Grind your beans to a fine consistency, similar to fine sand or table salt—not too fine like powder.

4. Add Boiled Water to the Base
Pour enough hot water into the base to fill just below the release valve (that little knobby thing on the side).
Don’t overfill!

5. Add Those Fine Grounds to the Filter
Fill the filter with your freshly ground coffee, leveling it off without tamping or packing it down.

6. Screw It Together
Gently place the coffee holder into the base, ensuring there are no grounds on the seals or ridges.
Then screw the top and bottom of the Moka pot together (using a towel on the base can help avoid burnt hands).

7. Heat It Up
Place the pot on a medium-low heat source with the top lid open.
Keep that handle off the heat source—you don’t want to hold a hot handle!

8. Whoa, Buster!
Hold your horses! Take a moment to check those eyelids for holes or stretch yourself out.
This step could take about 5–10 minutes, so relax! A watched pot never boils.

9. The Magic Happens
Look in that pot! Coffee will start to flow gently up and out from the pipe.
Reduce the heat without interrupting the flow. Watch as the rich, dark stream gets lighter and lighter,
listening for a puffing sound—that means it’s done! Remove from heat and close the lid.

10. Shut It Down
Wrap a cold towel around the base of the Moka pot or run it under cold water
to stop the brewing process and prevent any bitter taste from developing.

11. Serve & Savor
Pour your freshly brewed coffee as soon as it stops bubbling out.
Enjoy that rich aroma!

12. Repeat & Share!
Enjoy every sip and share your delicious Moka pot creations with friends or family.
Coffee is best when enjoyed together!

Tips for Success

  • Use Fresh Grounds: Always grind your beans just before brewing for maximum flavor.

  • Watch Your Heat: Keep an eye on your heat level; too high can scorch your coffee.

  • Experiment: Feel free to adjust coffee-to-water ratios based on your personal preference.
